I'm a proud mom of two teenagers and married for 21 years to the best dad they could ask for. We live at the base of beautiful Pikes Peak in Manitou Springs, CO. As a family, we enjoy all of the outdoor adventures that Colorado offers: hiking, skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking and camping. Like every other family, we were blindsided by autism but have made the best of that challenge that we can. We try to live our lives like everyone else, the only difference is that we enter every situation with a Plan B, in case we need to modify for a quick exit. Having a typical child AND a child with autism has given us entry into both worlds, where we see beauty all around. Autism forces you to appreciate the little things in life: your child looking you in the eye, saying your name "mom", and not tantruming over a change in routine or a tag in their clothes. We have rounded the bend past the chaos (Thank God) and now can explore the fun of Molly (finally) learning to talk.

Kathy, I sent you an email via your cousin Wendy. She has my email -- I really hope you and your husband can come to our event up in Boulder on the 12th. I know it's a schlep, but I bet they'll spare you a couch ;). Cheers, Michelle Dyson
